In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1 ESV
A little OT TBT for your soul.
In all seriousness, there’s something about nature that makes me stop to pause. I find the ocean to be beautiful but it’s the mountains that really do it for me. I don’t know what it is about them but there’s something about that feeling you get when you stand next to something massive, and all of a sudden you feel incredibly small. I think American culture today is all about beefing our egos up to a place where we think the planet actually revolves around us…this is a slippery slope; I digress.
Thinking that God is the one designed and spoke the very mountains I love to gaze at into existence is a surefire way to get my head back on track with His Heart. Sometimes when life gets tough, which it’s not been easy as of late, I tend to forget the nature of God’s heart and think He’s suddenly chosen to abandon me or forgets about me or doesn’t care about struggles. I have to make a conscious effort to stay in the Word and examine the areas where I can see Him at work most clearly: mountains, friends who make me laugh, working with students.
Let’s take it one step further and remember that the same God who created the insanely awesome mountains and beaches designed you too.
I’ll just leave that there.
